Ubud

The
These storm clouds absolutely hammered us!  Fortunately that was on the way home after a great walk up through the rice paddies in Ubud.  Very scenic walk with several organic cafes to grab a juice, beer or coffee.  I had a mixed juice and loved the fact that they used a lotus stem as my straw.

We have just had two nights in Meruh Dani Hotel/Guest House in Ubud which is spotlessly clean, great pool, great gardens, beautiful Balinese family running it and very close to the main street … about 100 m.  It has been perfect and all for the very reasonable price of $59 per night with a fab breakfast included.  We did lots of walking in the very busy town but apart from the 7 km walk in the paddi fields we laid pretty low and relaxed.  Easy to do in Bali!  John did manage a restorative yoga class that he said wasn’t that great.

Today we are off to Nusa Lembongan island for two or four nights.  Not sure yet.  We are staying at a place Denise and Lach recommended.  I phoned them and they are picking us up from Ubud to Sanur and then taking us by fast boat to the island and on to the hotel. All very easy … hopefully.

My only complain about Bali so far is the traffic.  It is a nightmare and getting from A to B on the island takes forever.
