Portofino … My favourite

Yesterday the girls and I headed to Portofino. This time Donna drove their rather large hire car. It was a two hour drive to Santa Margherita Ligure. We managed to jag a park right near the oceanfront … Which was amazing as it was Saturday morning so there were people everywhere and the streets were tiny.

We found the boat terminal straight away, bought our tickets and grabbed a quick coffee. The boat ride was only a fifteen minute trip to the beautiful Portofino … The prettiest town I have seen along this coastline. We had a lovely time wondering around the port and looking in the shops. This little town is in way better knick than the towns along the Cinque Terra. Everywhere you look you notice something else … A lovely rooftop garden here, beautiful colourful window boxes there ….just gorgeous.

Once again we had a lovely seafood lunch and a bottle of white. Our restaurant was the valet parking area for the tenders to the big yachts … So the comings and goings of the rich boat owners kept us amused.

Last night was presentation night at an oceanfront restaurant at Castiglioncello … The groovy little enclave about two km up the hill from Rosignano. A lovely night was had by all … I got a lift home with the girls … John had a big one … Consequently we are staying another day here while he recovers. He is going to help Tom pack up the boat. He flies out of Pisa tonight.

Not quite sure what we are doing for the next couple of days … We will have the boat back on the back, so that will restrict us.

Thursday afternoon I fly out of Bologna into Paris … For the start of my nine nights there. John will drive to Fano for a regatta on the weekend. Then he will hand the van over to Andrew Ringwood … After dropping the boat at Lake Garda … Then he flies to Paris Monday afternoon.

Peter and Fi Meecham fly into Paris on Saturday morning … I am very excited to be with them for the next couple of weeks.

  1. Looks like you have beautiful weather – great photos Lyn they look like postcard pictures – starting to get cool here down to 8 last night and only 10 now at midnight tonight – long pants for my walk tomorrow I think – last walk with Robyn for about eight weeks – going to miss her motivation – Daniel was up for the long weekend last weekend – took him to Bowen River – he is happy not to do that again! Had a lovely lunch in Airlie on Monday before he flew back to Brissy. Better get to sleep – work tomorrow – lots of love to you and John – safe and happy travels – love Mark and Sue

  2. We had a beautiful seafood dinner there whilst there in 1999 – goodness that sounds a long time ago. Went back the next day for lunch. We were told that they price the real estate by the amount of windows – back then a window was worth 1 million dollars.
    Love Pam
